New York! New York! That's right, Corey took a team of 21 people from our church to go back to the Big Apple today and serve the ministries of Urban Impact. (For those of you who don't know, we lived there for the month of May last year, during Corey's sabbatical.) Urban Impact seeks to share the Gospel with the immigrants from West Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia...the nations living right in the middle of New York City!

There has been a lot of preparation for this trip (and not just all the late nights this past week!). Over the last few months we've had a spaghetti dinner fundraiser and a huge yard sale. This week we attended a cookout for the crew and their families, a "guys' night" at our house on Friday night, and everyone came here for lunch before departure today. Enjoy the pictures from these events and be expecting lots of blog updates this week (as I'll have some lonely nights!).

As you can see, this trip has been a long time coming. They will be doing ESL classes, VBS, construction work, and street evangelism. Please pray for Corey and the team!

Thanks for posting this Kristy. We are praying here in Houston and are so thankful to Corey for all the preparation and planning that went into this trip but mostly his heart for this type of work. Thanks also to you, I know that much sacrifice has gone into this trip on your part-opening up your home for fund-raising, game night...making a way for Corey to be gone all week. We will pray for you too this week as you care for your three boys as a single mom. I do realize that you would very much like to be there serving too. We love the Shepherds!!
